How is water treated?

Today, we were lucky enough to have a virtual workshop with Yorkshire Water! We learned about the water cycle and were shown the process behind how our water is treated.

During this session, we also found out about some of the harmful things that we have in our water and how these are removed. Some of these include bacteria, debris, peat, herbicides and pesticides.

Lastly, we explored the many ways in which we can save water in our homes. Some of these include using our washing machines and dishwashers efficiently, showering instead of bathing and turning the tap off when brushing our teeth.

Have you used any of these strategies to save water?

  1. This looks really interesting Amber Class and it sounds like you learnt a lot! I save water by turning the tap off when I brush my teeth and having a shower instead of a bath. Although I do like a bubble bath every now and then!
